Fitness Staff

Our team of instructors is composed of university students, faculty, and staff with a genuine love for health and fitness.  All have gone through an extensive in-house training program that focuses on exercise science principles, leadership, and customer service. One of the unique aspects of our program is that no previous experience is necessary to become an instructor.

Alex - Instructor/Monitor Alex is working on a dual major in Human Resources and Psychology. Even though this seems like plenty to keep her busy, Alex also loves running, cycling, lifting, yoga, and dancing (especially hip-hop!) - exercise is a passion for her. Alex is excited to share her love of fitness with others to help them achieve their fitness goals. 

Alex N.-NLT/Monitor: Alex is a senior in Exercise Science and is looking forward to sharing her passion for fitness with her fellow Buckeyes! She particularly enjoys triathlons and other endurance events, but believes that it's variety and good company that keep exercise fun.

Alexis-NLT: Alexis is a business Human Resources major. She has always been interested in athletics and working out. Cycling has been a very big part of her life for the past couple of years and she enjoys pushing herself and others while working out on the bike to their fullest potential. She is looking forward to leading a fun and energetic class!

Ali-NLT/Monitor: Ali is a third year Exercise Science major, minoring in Human Nutrition. Wellness is her passion and she is pumped to start with the group fitness program so she can share it with others!  When Ali is not studying or working out she enjoys traveling, surfing, snowboarding, and watching E!  Ali also hopes that she can encourage more females to begin resistance training in classes such as total body, boot camp, and body sculpting.

Allison - Instructor/Monitor A senior in the Business Marketing program, Allison comes to us from Dallas, TX and is obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys. Allison loves to teach and attend all types of fitness classes in her spare time.  Her favorite classes include cardio kickboxing and cardio sculpt.

Alyssa-NLT/Monitor: Alyssa is a sophomore majoring in medical dietetics. Exercising is a passion of hers, and she loves a good workout! Alyssa hopes to share her love for fitness with others through the program. Cycling is her all time favorite workout and hopefully in the near future that is where you will see her!

Amanda - Monitor Amanda is currently a junior studying Biology, with a focus on pre-physical therapy.  She enjoys playing flag football and working out with friends.  In addition, Amanda is proud to share that she is one of the lucky ones who does not have a sweet tooth for chocolate!

Amanda Cr.-NLT/Monitor: Amanda is a freshman in the Exploration program and is very excited to be a part of the Group Fitness Program at OSU. She enjoys helping and motivating others, singing in the car, planning ahead of time, and a good laugh or two!

Amy-NLT/Monitor: Amy is junior at OSU majoring in Medical Dietetics. She loves running, football, and participating in the fitness classes at the RPAC. Amy enjoys making sure everyone is having fun during their workout and staying motivated. She is interested in all of the fitness classes but focuses more with the step aerobics and lifting classes.

Angie - Instructor An instructor since 2000, Angie has enjoyed each and every moment of leading Group Fitness classes!!  She is currently a RN pursuing her nurse practitioner certification. Angie's favorite classes to teach are Kickboxing and Step.  She truly believes that by making exercise enjoyable more people will be inclined to implement a regiment into their daily lives to help maintain a healthy lifestyle - she is here to help do just that!

Anna - Instructor A third year English and Political Science major, Anna enjoys playing basketball and working out in a fun way.  She loves dancing and the freedom that Group Fitness classes give us all to move our bodies.

Anna R.-NLT: Anna is a second year student planning on majoring in Exercise Science with a focus on pre-med. She has been in the United States Army for over 6 years and is the PT NCO for her platoon. In addition, she is the Vice President for the Student Veteran Organization at OSU, Vets 4 Vets. She enjoys all types of exercise especially tennis, lifting and running. She believes in maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle!

Arielle-NLT:Arielle is from Beachwood, Ohio, a small suburb of Cleveland.  She is a freshman and majoring in Special Education to hopefully work with young children with special needs.  She enjoys interacting with children, playing soccer, and working out.  Arielle has a passion for helping others get themselves in shape and is very excited to be joining OSU Group Fitness!

Ashley - Instructor Ashley is senior studying Human Nutrition and Education. She enjoys motivating and interacting with people in a fitness setting. Ashley has ran several half and a full marathon and tries to incorporate that "never give up" mindset into all of her classes. Her favorite class to teach is step aerobics, but loves teaching cycling as well.

Beth-NLT/Monitor:Beth is a sophomore working toward a degree in public relations in the fashion industry.  This is her first year with BuckIRobics and teaching fitness classes.  Having been a dancer for fifteen years, she has always had an interest in physical fitness and is always looking for new ways to challenge herself.  She loves running and is always interested in finding fun & new ways of keeping in shape.  She is excited to help motivate people to reach their fitness goals in new and different ways through the classes she will teach here at Ohio State!

Brei - Instructor Brei is a third year student who is planning on majoring in athletic training. She loves cycling both inside and outside, weight training, and any other type of physical activities.

Brittany B. - Instructor/MonitorBrittany is in her fourth year majoring in Nutrition/Pre-Health.  She enjoys taking Group Fitness classes and also likes running.  In addition to the Group Fitness Program, Brittany is also involved in the running club and marathon club here at Ohio State.

Brittany E. - Supervisor Brittany is a sophomore majoring in political science. She enjoys working out, cycling, and taking step classes. Brittany's excited to work with others and is even more excited to get people interested in staying fit and healthy.

Carmela - Instructor/Monitor Carmela is in her final year as a History major with a pre-med concentration.  Working out is her favorite form of stress relief.  Carmela is excited to be an instructor so that she can help motivate and encourage others to become physically fit!  She looks forward to teach both sculpting and cycling classes, and eventually would like to be trained in yoga and/or Pilates. Carmela has also added H20 Challenge to her instructing list this quarter, so you may spot her in the class pool as well!

Cortney - Monitor Cortney is in her second year at Ohio State as a junior and she absolutely loves it! This is also her second year working with the Group Fitness Program as a monitor. She is a business major at The Fisher College of Business.

Dan - Monitor Dan is in his fourth year at Ohio State and is working on his Bachelor's in international studies. He is an enlisted member of the Air National Guard in Security Forces. He enjoys and is very involved in weight training, running, and anything that has to do with fitness. Dan loves working with the Group Fitness Program at the RPAC because of the atmosphere and the people he gets to interact with everyday.

Darcie - Monitor Darcie is a fourth year student majoring in Human Development and Family Science with an Early Childhood Education focus. She really enjoys running and any cardio class offered by the Group Fitness Program.

Emily - InstructorEmily is a second year Agribusiness and Applied Economics major, with a minor in both Political Science and Animal Sciences. She enjoys teaching various strength classes, her favorite being boot camp. With exercise being one of her biggest hobbies, she loves to show others not only how important it is, but also how fun it can be! She loves the quote "You were born to win, but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win." Zig Ziglar

Eric - Instructor He is a senior majoring in Finance and minoring in Philosophy. This is his third year working for the Group Fitness Program. He enjoys pushing his participants to working their hardest, but keeps his classes very laid back and chill. 

Hannah-NLT/Monitor: Hannah is a third year student, double majoring in Nutrition and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and knitting. Hannah loves taking group fitness classes especially cycling and total body classes, and is excited to be able to teach.

Jacque M. - InstructorJacque is a third year student majoring in Hospitality Management and minoring in International Business. She loves to travel and see the world! Her favorite type of fitness is dancing, running, and working out to Justin Timberlake! She likes taking any of the Group Fitness Program's Cardio classes. Mostly, Jacque enjoys getting people motivated about exercising. Endorphins make you happy!!

Jackie P. - Instructor Jackie P. is a sophomore from Cincinnati majoring in Chemical Engineering at OSU and loves being involved with the Group Fitness Program, the Mount Leadership Society, Young Life, and anything else going on around campus. She is a Resident Advisor in Halloran House and has been teaching aerobics since spring quarter of 2009. With a passion for both dance and fitness, Jackie thoroughly enjoys teaching every class!

Jennifer - MonitorJennifer is a fourth year transfer from Columbus State Community College. She got her A.A.S in Sports & Exercise Studies and is currently working on a B.S. in Sports & Leisure and a minor in Education here at Ohio State.  This is Jennifer's first year with the Group Fitness Program; she is from Las Vegas, NV and is so far enjoying her experiences here in Ohio and of course being a BUCKEYE!

Jillian - Instructor  While keeping up with being a fourth year Exercise Science major and applying to Chiropractic schools, Jill is excited to be a part of the fitness team and is pumped to be back teaching Group Fitness classes this year! She also loves running and looks forward to working with the staff and all future class participants.

Katie-NLT/Monitor: Katie is a third year transfer student studying exercise science. A competitive swimmer since age 7 and more recently breaking into triathlons, Katie has always loved staying active and recognizes the importance of physical fitness. Outside of the gym, she is a member of the Tri-Delta sorority and loves watching movies and sports. Go Bucks!

Ken - Instructor/Monitor  Ken is a fourth year Philosophy major who enjoys yoga, working out, reading, eating, watching movies, going out with friends, and of course, sleeping! Although sculpting classes are of interest to Ken here in the program, yoga is one of Ken's favorites.  He already has 3 years of yoga experience and a Yoga Level 1 certification under his belt.

Kendra - Instructor/Monitor A third year Medical Technology major, Kendra enjoys strength training and loves to run.  She enjoys motivating other people to exercise, especially while playing volleyball - she is a force both on sand and land! Kendra's favorite Group Fitness class is BOSU Body or any Indoor Cycling class, but she also enjoys a good Pilate's class.  

Lucy - Guest Instructor Lucy is a certified Guang Ping Yang Taijiquan and Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor.  She is the 2005 Gold Medalist of the San Diego Grand National Championship for Guang Ping Taijiquan. She has studied Yang, Sun and Chen styles of Taijiquan as well as several styles of qigong -including Shiba Luohan Gong with Master Shi, Zheng Zhong and Grandmaster Huang, Chien-Liang and Marriage of Heaven and Earth Qigong with Laoshur Nina Deerfield.  She is currently a board member of the Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi Chuan Association.

Lydia - Instructor Lydia is a third year Psychology major with a minor in Spanish. She enjoys running, working out, reading, and hiking. Lydia is excited to be able to teach and help people better their lives.

Meghan - Instructor A graduate from Indiana University with degrees in Sociology and Spanish, Meghan is a third year graduate student in the Department of Sociology.  She enjoys teaching both Step and Stretch classes and believes that exercise should be both functional to daily life as well as fun.

Melissa - Instructor Melissa is in her fourth year at OSU majoring in both Sociology and Spanish, as well as doing a Portuguese Minor.  She enjoys hanging out with friends and family and loves to travel. Melissa is currently teaching cycling, which is her favorite class because she thinks it is an all-around awesome workout!

Michelle - Instructor Michelle is a third year professional student at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and is slated to receive her DVM in 2011. She grew up in Massachusetts and received her B.S. in Biology from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 2001. Since that time she has called California, Wyoming, and Washington, D.C. home. Michelle enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, and is also an avid runner. Michelle moved to Ohio in 2005 and is proud to be a Buckeye.

Paige - Instructor/Monitor Paige is a fourth year Psychology major with a Life Sciences minor. She, enjoys horseback riding, kickboxing, soccer, tennis, music, and does photography when she can. Paige is hoping to learn from the program and its students, and teach as much as possible to help people lead a healthy lifestyle.

Patricia-NLT: Patricia is currently a sophomore studying Physical Education and Nutrition.  She enjoys running, yoga and just working out in general.  In addition, Patricia has completed four half marathons and the fifth one is on the way, with hopes of completing here first marathon in the spring. She enjoys anything outdoors and is up for any challenge. Her love for exercising has brought her to fitness instructing because she says "There is nothing better than helping someone look good and most of all, feel better about them-selves!"

Pete - Graduate Assistant A first year grad student, Pete is currently working towards his Master's in Sports Management. Pete comes to us from Otterbein College in 2006, where he graduated with a B.A. in Sports Management as well. In his down time, he enjoys playing sports and being active.

Rachael T. - Instructor A second year grad student in the Clinical Counseling program, Rachael has five years of monitoring experience and this is her fourth year as an instructor. She typically teaches kickboxing, cycling, core strength and step classes but has also taught boot camp, total body, and body sculpt classes.

Rachel W.- NLT/Monitor: Rachel is a second year food science major with a minor in international studies. She hopes to one day make it to the Food Network! She pairs her love of food with fitness, in particular yoga. From finding relaxation amidst her busy studies to strengthening and toning her body, Rachel loves yoga and can't wait to share it with others.

Randall-NLT: Randall is a second year student at OSU double majoring in Political Science and Geography.  In his spare time he likes to watch documentaries and be in any type of social setting.  He is excited to be around people who love to be fit as much as he does!

Rashmeet - Instructor Rashmeet has been practicing yoga for the last 15 years. As a traveler, she has attended many different types of yoga classes which exposed her to different thoughts of yoga; it has also allowed her to integrate them herself and reflect what yoga is to her. Rashmeet has completed her instructor training course in yoga which she took to further her technical skills and allow her to share the fruits of her knowledge to benefit others. She prefers a blended form of Hatha, Vinayasa and Kundilini Yoga in order to have a balance in physical and mental strength in life. Rashmeet believes yoga is for you, so practice to enjoy.

Renee - Monitor Renee is a second year transfer student from Bowling Green State University and is currently studying to be a Special Education Teacher.  She has decided to take on a position with the Group Fitness Program to kick off her school year with Group Fitness!  Renee also enjoys rollerblading and staying fit.

Reyna-NLT/Monitor:Reyna Askew is an International Studies Major who loves to explore the world around her and meet new people! She enjoys fitness classes such as cycling, kickboxing, Zumba and Pilates. She believes that the fitness classes at Ohio State are a great way make friends as well as stay motivated to be fit!

Sam-NLT/Monitor: Sam is in her  first year at Ohio State, studying Business Marketing and Spanish with a minor in Fashion and Retail studies. She is a member of the OSU Indoor Soccer Club and soccer is her greatest passion. Sam also loves to run long distances, work at her local coffee shop, and go to the mall!

Sarah-NLT: Sarah is a third year student studying Design. Exercising is very important to her and she especially enjoys running. Sarah is extremely excited to be an Ohio State fitness instructor and is hoping that she will be able to help motivate anyone who is interested in working out. Sarah believes that group fitness is a great way to become physically fit while enjoying different types of work outs!

Sierra - Instructor Sierra is a third year Meteorology student here at Ohio State. She enjoys being with her friends, rock climbing, dancing, and working out in her free time.  This year Sierra is also working for the Mathematics department as a tutor. Sierra's favorite classes are anything involving step or abs; in fact, she loves to teach them both!

Wylie - Supervisor A third year transfer student from Kent State, Wylie is in his second year both with OSU and the Group Fitness Program! Wylie is a Construction major and enjoys weight lifting, running, baseball, basketball, and football. He is always willing to answer questions you may have and help wherever he can.

Zoe-NLT/Monitor: Zoe is currently a sophomore and Japanese Major hoping to go to Japan senior year!  She has always liked trying to find new and fun ways to stay fit... She loves dance, so combining the two is like a dream come true!  She hopes to get people out of their shell in a safe and fun environment and is looking forward to teaching this spring!
