| Why are sports only offered one quarter per year? |
|---|
We offer sports only once per year so that we can provide the best variety of sports that cater to all populations and their interests. | | Who can play Intramural Sports? |
|---|
Any paid member of Recreational Sports (students, faculty, staff, adults), as well as spouses, sponsored adults, or affiliates who have a current and valid membership. | | When is Intramural Registration? |
|---|
Intramural Registration is the first FULL WEEK of every quarter, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at the RPAC. The only exception is summer quarter, when registration runs two weeks and is held in RPAC B147- the Intramural Sports Office. The Exception: Ice Hockey Registration is held during the first full week of the quarter, and is held on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings of that week. | | When are games played? |
|---|
Intramural contests for sport seasons take place Sunday through Friday evenings, from 4:30 p.m.-midnight, depending on the sport. Most sports are played Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-midnight. Intramural tournaments take place Friday evenings after 5 p.m. or Saturday mornings and afternoons. | | What if I don’t have a full team of people to play with? |
|---|
You are able to register as an individual and be placed on teams with others to form whole teams in the following sports: Flag Football, Indoor Volleyball, Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Softball, and Soccer.
You register in the same fashion as a person who is registering for a team, just make sure to let the Intramural staff person who is helping you know that you do not have a full team. You still select a day and time to play from a list of the Unattached Leagues, pay, and receive a confirmation card. | | How much does it cost to play Intramural Sports? |
|---|
It varies by sport and by team, but the range is $40-90 per team, with most teams costing $65. To register as an individual, it is $8-10 per team or tournament. | | How many teams can I play on? |
|---|
That varies by sport, but can be summed up as one team per level or division offered for that sport. In our major sports, we provide at least 2 levels at which people can participate. In the smaller sports (dodgeball, tennis, ultimate disc, for example) there is only one level. In the biggest sports, you can play on one team at the premier level (choice flag football, gold basketball, major league softball); one at the independent level (core flag football, silver basketball, AAA softball- which is your INA, INB and Women’s leagues); one specialty league team (Graduate/Faculty or Fraternity- Men’s teams, and ONLY IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE); one co-rec team, and; one team at the continental level (flag football only). Essentially, you can play on one men’s or women’s team and one co-rec team, and one team in any other premier or specialty leagues that may apply. In Ice Hockey: You are allowed to play as a player on one team, and as a goalie for another team at a different level. | | How many people are on a team? |
|---|
The number of people on a team depends on the particular sport. For sand volleyball, for example, there are four (4) people who play at a time. Conversely, for co-rec flag football, there are eight (8) people who play at a time. Most teams are comprised of 5-7 people who play at one time. You are permitted to have up to sixteen (16) people on your roster. | | How do I sign up for an intramural team? |
|---|
|
Just come the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at the RPAC, complete a registration card and select a time that you would like to play from what we have available. Then, you pay and receive your confirmation card. The Exception: Ice Hockey Registration is done on an individual basis; you are not permitted to register an entire ice hockey team. | | Do we have to provide our own equipment? |
|---|
Again, this varies by the sport that you are playing. All balls are provided for intramural contests, except for golf. Player jerseys are provided for flag football, soccer, ice hockey, and basketball. For tournaments requiring a racquet, you can check them out of the Sport Shop in RPAC for free. For ice hockey, we do provide helmets, shin guards and gloves- you must purchase your own hockey stick (can be purchased from the OSU Ice Rink) and you can rent skates from the OSU Ice Rink. Any other equipment that you wish to have, you must provide yourself. |
