Policies/Procedures
Minimum Rental Age Members must be 18 years or older to reserve or rent gear from the OAC. Any person under 18 years of age needs a parent or guardian to rent gear for them.
Securing Reservations Reservations will only be taken with a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) or by BuckID. Reservations can be made in person with a valid BuckID or Rec Sports membership. Equipment may be rented the same day, but to ensure availability members may secure a reservation any day before the desired pick up day.
Pick Up Equipment can only be picked up on the day the rental period begins. If the member needs to pick up the gear any earlier, he/she must pay for those extra days.
What Can Be Rented Only equipment listed on the OAC Equipment Rental Sheet may be rented. There are a lot of non-rental items housed in the OAC so be careful.
Cancellation Policy Reservations must be cancelled 1 day prior to the pickup date to receive a full refund of the deposit. If this does not happen the full charge will be applied to the member. No refunds are issued due to inclement weather or changing plans unless the cancellation is one day prior to pickup (in accordance with above policy).
Late Fees If equipment is returned late, the member will be charged the specific daily rate for each day it is past due, up to the original cost of the equipment.
Lost or Broken Equipment Fees If equipment is lost or broken beyond repair, member will pay original price, plus freight and handling.
Cleaning and Repair Fees Member is charged $15/hour for cleaning or minor repairs, up to the original cost of the equipment.
Rental Periods - Daily - Equipment can be returned same day or the next day. - Weekend - Equipment is to be picked up Friday and returned Monday. Holiday weekends count as regular weekends so people get a free extra day. - Week - Equipment may be out a maximum of 7 days, including pick up and return days. - You can keep something for longer than 7 days at different rates.
Equipment Contracts The OAC General Equipment Reservation/Check-Out Contract is a legal and binding agreement between the participant/user and The Ohio State University. It needs to be fully understood by the equipment user.
Unless previously cleared through the OAC Assistant Director, only Ohio State recreational sports members are eligible to reserve or check out equipment or resources. You must have a BuckID or membership card.
