Specialty Classes/Outreach
Outreach Programs Not enough time to stop by the gym? Personal training can come to you. Our staff can hold personal training sessions at residence halls, fraternity/sorority houses, and offices. A variety of class sizes and spaces can be accommodated throughout the day. Dumbbells, exercise balls, and resistance tubing are provided; you just need to show up. "Ask the Trainer" Online Personal Training For $35 you can receive four weeks of online counseling from one of our personal trainers on exercise and training ideas that will help bring new ideas to your workouts. To register, stop by the RPAC Welcome Center, call 292-5153, or e-mail ptraining@osu.edu.
Specialty Classes Designed to provide a maximum workout in a minimum time frame, specialty classes run for 10 weeks and cost $45 for members. Register for any of the classes listed below by visiting the RPAC Welcome Center or calling 292-7671. Registration is ongoing. All classes below run from week one through finals week each quarter.
Free Motion Circuit Training Get a great full-body workout in just 30 minutes using the RPAC's FreeMotion equipment. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30-7 a.m., 7:15-7:45 a.m., 12:15-12:45 p.m., 5:30-6 p.m., 6:15-6:45 p.m.
Personal Training with Martial Arts (offered based on demand) Improve your strength, flexibility, and confidence through various martial arts. For any questions about this class, please contact Jim Mattox at mattox.1@osu.edu.
Women's Resistance Training These 45-minute classes are offered twice a week, helping women learn proper techniques with free weights, resistance tubing, resistance balls, and fitness circuit machines. All classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Partner Resistance Training Bring a friend or your partner to this workout and start your day off right by working with free weights and stability balls in one of our multi-purpose rooms. Your personal trainer will demonstrate how to perform exercises effectively and efficiently while focusing on a muscular, endurance-based program. All classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursday from 7:30-8:15 a.m.
Active Adults Strength and Conditioning These 45-minute sessions are for participants 50 years of age or older. As part of the Active Aging Program, participants will learn the fundamentals of strength training and conditioning with one of our personal trainers. The class includes an introduction to workout equipment at the RPAC. Participants will develop a workout regimen with age and conditioning goals in mind. Youth Strength and Conditioning Youth Weight Training is for participants ages 8-11, and Adolescent/Teen Weight Training is for ages 12 and up. Participants will learn fundamentals of strength training and conditioning with one of our personal trainers. The class includes an introduction to the workout equipment at the RPAC.
